Care Centre is a people management platform developed specifically for care homes and care home groups; its CareSurvey and CareKudos modules sit on the same staff record and app as the rota, clock-in, leave and HR.
Culture Amp is an enterprise employee-experience platform for HR teams at large organisations, comprising Engage, Perform, Develop and an AI Coach, with employee data synchronised from an existing HR system of record. The difference is one of scope and of reach: Culture Amp serves organisations with an HRIS, work email and desk-based teams; Care Centre assumes staff have neither a desk nor work email.
Surveys and recognition within the platform care staff already use
Care Centre holds staff surveys, pulse questions, recognition and a company feed on the same staff record and app as the rota, clock-in, leave, HR and compliance, so employees take part from the app they open for shifts, with no HR system of record beneath it.
Culture Amp sits above an existing system of record, with Engage for surveys, Perform for reviews, goals and Shoutouts, and Develop for career paths. Its material addresses HR executives, CFOs and CIOs at enterprise and commercial organisations, and its solutions pages list professional services, financial services, software & technology and manufacturing, not healthcare, social care or frontline work (read 14 Sep 2026). It therefore suits desk-based organisations; Care Centre is built around a residential care workforce.
Reaching staff without work email
In a care home almost nobody has a work email address, so how a survey reaches staff determines how many reply.
Each Care Centre survey is issued with a QR code, an A5 poster in five styles for the lounge and staff room, and a link; staff also see it in the app's needs-attention row. Scheduled invites can be sent where addresses are held, with reminders to anyone who did not finish.
Culture Amp's usual route is the work email address in the HR system; for employees without an email address or computer, its support guide describes kiosk mode — a shared device and a unique code per person — or an exported link copied into a browser. A QR poster, SMS, a native staff app and a time-clock prompt are not described in its published documentation. Both can therefore reach staff without work email; the distinction is one of approach.
Anonymity
Care Centre's staff surveys and pulse questions are anonymous to the home: it does not see who gave which answer. The same statement appears on the poster, the invite, the app and on resident and family surveys.
Culture Amp provides attributed and unattributed formats with confidentiality protections in reporting, set out in its support guide rather than its product pages, so what an employee is promised depends on the format the HR team selects. Both protect respondents, through a single form of words or a choice of formats.
Staff surveys and reporting
In Care Centre a survey can be started from a template, copied from the previous year's, or drafted by AI from a description, and runs home by home with its own poster, report and plan. The AI report scores sentiment on every answer and sets out six categories, where leadership and frontline differ, trends and recommendations, in PDF and CSV.
Results can be compared with the same home's previous survey — improved, declined or consistent — and a paper survey can be imported. Care Centre does not benchmark one home against another, or an organisation against other organisations.
Culture Amp provides over 40 templates built by data scientists and organisational psychologists, covering engagement, onboarding, exit and DEI, with AI comment summaries and benchmarks its site describes as covering over a billion responses across regions, segments and industries. Organisations needing comparison with other employers will find those benchmarks more developed.
Resident and family surveys
Care Centre includes resident and family surveys alongside staff surveys, distributed the same way and reported resident against family in the same AI report. Culture Amp surveys employees; resident and family surveys are not offered, which matters for a home that wants staff, resident and family feedback in one place.
Action planning
Closing a survey in Care Centre opens an action plan in the You said · We said · We did format, extended with This happened, By whom and Target date — the format CQC asks to see. Every outcome carries an owner and a date, with a weekly reminder when one slips; the plan is written by a person, not by AI.
Culture Amp also turns results into action, its AI Coach building plans alongside managers, grounded in people science; a plan in that format, or one shaped around a CQC inspection, is not described in its documentation. It provides the broader coaching capability; Care Centre produces the document a care home is asked to show.
Pulse
Care Centre asks one short question, daily or weekly and in sequence, at the clock-out terminal as a shift ends or in the staff app, returning role analysis, the trend, red flags and a summary, anonymously to the home. Culture Amp provides pulse surveys, used to measure how organisational changes are landing, reached by the same routes as its other surveys. The distinction is again the point of contact.
Recognition and communication
Care Centre includes recognition and internal communication in the staff app. Any employee can thank a colleague from their own phone, tagging the values demonstrated, from 12 values plus the home's own, with AI able to assist with wording. Recognition appears on the home's feed, the recipient is notified, and monthly champions and a leaderboard appear in the app, which also carries news, events, polls and priority posts everyone must acknowledge, with an acknowledgement report.
Posts can include photographs, uploaded video and YouTube or Vimeo links, so a home can share an event, a celebration or news from the home with the whole team. Recognition can be given as a thank-you, a star, congratulations, a work-anniversary message or employee of the month, and chat messages can include photographs.
Culture Amp provides Shoutouts within Perform. As its own page states, Shoutouts lives within the tools employees are already using, like Slack and Microsoft Teams, alongside a Shoutouts feed; a route for a workplace using neither is not described. For organisations in those tools that is practical; care homes do not typically run either.
Performance and development
Culture Amp's Perform provides performance reviews and calibration, 1-on-1s, goals, a skills coach and performance insights, while Develop provides career paths, competencies and growth plans. Care Centre provides none of these, and supervision and appraisal sit on its roadmap, not in the product.
AI
Care Centre uses AI to help staff write, read and sort rather than to make decisions: drafting questions, scoring sentiment, writing the report, importing staff records and wording recognition. According to Care Centre, personal information is redacted before relevant import processing and customer data is not used to train the AI model. Action plans are excluded and written by the person who owns the outcome, and £10 of AI credits come with CareSurvey each month.
Culture Amp's AI Coach extends further into the manager's role, summarising comments, producing engagement insights and drafting plans and reviews, while Care Centre leaves the action plan with a person.
Pricing
The platforms price differently. Care Centre publishes its pricing, charged per home or per registered bed rather than per employee:
- CareSurvey: £89 per home per month
- CareKudos: £89 per home per month
- CareHR: £6 per bed per month, including both
- People Management Platform: £10 per bed per month, with the rota, clock-in, payroll preparation, leave, HR and compliance
- Setup: £0
- Contract: monthly rolling
Every staff member is included, so a 60-bed home employing 90 people is charged as one employing 40.
Culture Amp publishes no price; its pricing page invites a request for a quote, with tiers described as enterprise (1,000+ employees) and small and medium organisations (under 200), and cost driven by the employees and modules taken. Third-party sites report a minimum annual spend of approximately $4,500, rising with Perform or Develop; Culture Amp does not publish them, so they are indicative only (read 14 Sep 2026). Care Centre's per-bed pricing reflects the higher employee-to-bed ratios typical in residential care.
Implementation, training & support
Both platforms are cloud-based. Care Centre requires no proprietary hardware: staff use their own phones, standard Android tablets in homes and a browser. No HR system of record is required underneath, since the record that runs the rota is the one surveys and recognition use. Configuration, staff-list import and live training are provided without a setup fee, with support from a UK-based care-sector team.
Culture Amp synchronises employee data from HR software and provides a developer API, with enterprise support adding manager and executive training, People Scientist calls and 24/5 support. The choice is between an implementation that assumes no HR platform beneath it and one designed to sit above an established system of record.
Where Care Centre may be the better fit
Care Centre is likely to suit care homes and groups whose staff work on the floor, where they:
- Employ people with no work email address, no desk and no Slack or Teams account
- Want resident and family surveys reported resident against family
- Want each survey to end in a You said · We said · We did action plan with owners and dates
- Want recognition and a company feed, with priority posts requiring acknowledgement, in that same app
- Prefer published pricing per home and per registered bed, every staff member included
- Want engagement on the same record as the rota, clock-in, leave and compliance
Where Culture Amp may be the better fit
Culture Amp may be more appropriate where:
- The workforce is desk-based, with work email, an HR system of record and Slack or Teams in use
- Benchmarking against other organisations is required, since Care Centre compares a home only with itself
- Performance reviews, calibration, goals and development plans are needed in the same product
- AI-drafted action plans and performance reviews are wanted alongside engagement reporting
